The Security Manager ensures that threats to personnel, assets, and business operations/activities within the company’s factories and estates are continuously identified, properly evaluated and mitigated in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Qualifications

  • Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field.
  • Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CPP, PSP) is a plus.

    Experience

  • Minimum 7 years of progressive security management experience in industrial, manufacturing, mining, FMCG, or heavy industry environments
  • Minimum three years’ experience in management of Security Command Centre operations
  • Background as former Law enforcement agent, military, or intelligence services agent will be an added advantage
  • Strong knowledge of security best practices, technologies, and industry standards
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze complex security issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations governing security operations.
  • Proficient in the use of security-related technologies and software
  • Good experience of physical and electronic security- access procedures, perimeter protection, CCTV, intruder alarms
  • Ability to provide a security input in crisis response and business contingency plans
  • Sound understanding of principles in the protection of company information, including computer bases and measures required to achieve this.

  • Security Strategy and Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive security policies, procedures, and protocols to protect the organization’s assets and personnel.
  • Manage operational activities and performance standards of 3rd Party Security contractors. Effectively manage 3 P security service provision companies in terms of fit for purpose performance and adherence/compliance with agreed SLA’s.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage the security team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations. Foster a culture of professionalism, integrity, and excellence within the security department.
  • Lead on Travel Security management across Business through traveler support in Security Coordination Centre/Control Room in Travel security and Incident management programmes. Ensure safety and security of employees whilst on Company premises and during travel within Kenya.
  • Security Operations: Oversee day-to-day security operations, including access control, surveillance, and alarm systems.
  • Coordinate and conduct regular drills and training exercises to ensure the readiness of security personnel.
  • Conduct risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate measures.
  • Develop and implement incident response plans to address security breaches, emergencies, and other critical incidents.
  • Investigate security incidents, document findings, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to assess security needs and integrate security measures into overall organizational plans.
  • Ensure Security induction and briefing of all new joiner’s, international staff/visitors on in-country security issues upon arrival at the Factory Sites and Offices.
  • Provide coordination and support for all high-profile visits, Events, and Functions as may be required from time to time.
  • Liaise with and develop relationships with various Law Enforcement, Community leaders, village elders and & Emergency Services in the event of a security incident/emergency (i.e. fire, medical, mechanical breakdown) and to ensure timely reaction to incidents.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans and ensure that all security personnel are trained and prepared to respond to emergencies effectively.
  • Share daily operational situational reports from respective business unit.
  • Routine spot checks within operational area to ensure security and safety compliance for both Browns East Africa Plantations security officers and outsourced 3P security officers.
  • Support in driving safety culture across the operational unit.
  • Manage and ensure adherence to both internal and 3P staffing levels within the operational area.
  • Coordinate Night shift security operations at the Factory and Estates including Night Harvesting and alertness of both the Internal and 3P Security Officers.
