Summary
The Regional Medical Director Physician Assistant reports directly to the Associate Chief of Staff for Primary care CBOCs. They will have administrative responsibilities for leadership and direction of Primary Care development and programs – as well as effective interface with the CBOC staff. They will participate fully in all accreditation processes – review and site visits.
Duties
- Exercises direct supervisory responsibility for the regional physicians – and advanced practice providers
- Assumes a leadership role in the development and implementation PC process for continuous performance improvement – advocates for primary care and VHA leadership and the medical community – develops partnerships and coordination with other clinical services
- Collaborates with other Clinical directors – veterans integrated service network(visn) leadership and VA Central Office (VACO) staff members on program development issues
- Participates in attendance of the interdisciplinary team meetings Provides clinical input and consultative advice on treatment plans and is readily assessable and responsive to calls from team members in a Veteran’s home with urgent need for consultation
- Participates in the use of clinical practice guidelines – provision of standard of care to patients – and meets relevant performance measures as mandated by Veterans Health Administration (VHA)
- Reports quality of care issues promptly through established mechanisms
- Maintains timely and complete patient medical records that meet compliance program joint commission requirements
