The Lecturer in Literature will teach and research across African, European, and world literatures. The role emphasizes critical analysis, literary theory, cultural studies, and creative interpretation, preparing students for careers in academia, media, and cultural industries.
Key Responsibilities
Teach courses in literary theory, African literature, oral literature, comparative literature, and creative writing
Supervise student research projects and dissertations in literature and cultural studies
Engage in original research and publish in literary journals or books
Contribute to the development of literature programs and curriculum review
Mentor students on writing, creativity, and critical analysis
Participate in conferences, seminars, and cultural initiatives
Requirements
PhD in Literature, English, or related field from a recognized university
Master’s in Literature/English (mandatory if PhD in progress)
At least 3 years of teaching experience at university level
Publications in literary journals or books in literature studies
Strong communication, creative, and mentorship skills
Knowledge of African literature and global literary trends
