Role Overview
Calix is seeking a Summer Intern to join the Information Technology Delivery team. This remote internship (approx. 90 days) is part of a unique and award-winning program that provides hands-on training, exposure to IT portfolio management, and the opportunity to experiment with AI-driven workflow automation.
The IT Portfolio Delivery Intern will support portfolio delivery standards, optimize processes, leverage AI technology (e.g., Microsoft Copilot), and enable efficient delivery and transformation across IT project portfolios.
Key Responsibilities
Support Portfolio Design and Implementation
Apply standards from portfolio delivery frameworks (Agile, SAFE, Kanban)
Iterate on reporting processes with all delivery teams for uniform portfolio reporting
Build and organize project structures in Jira and Confluence (milestones, labels, links, metadata)
Map Jira project structures to executive dashboards
Apply newly defined portfolio design by creating/updating milestones, labels, links, and metadata
Experiment with AI Tools & Build AI Agents
Automate manual steps in delivery processes (e.g., milestone planning, story point analysis, report updates)
Test and refine AI agents using real data
Learn from Real IT Teams
Participate in sprint planning, retrospectives, prioritization sessions, and project updates
Use insights to improve project data structures and workflow accuracy
Required Qualifications
Currently pursuing a degree in a technical field, preferably Information Technology, with at least 2 years completed
Familiarity with project, program, and portfolio data structures
Understanding of IT delivery and portfolio management processes and metrics (Value-Based vs. Activity-Based)
Tools & Integration: Jira, Confluence, Power BI
Experience with AI and automation tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot)
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement skills
Excellent collaboration and communication abilities
Adaptable, curious, and willing to experiment with frameworks and processes
Attention to detail for documentation, action tracking, and process integrity
Self-motivated, proactive, and able to support transformation initiatives
Availability for the full summer break (May–August or June–September)
Compensation
Base pay varies based on geographic location and candidate experience
