Job Summary
The Investment Analyst – Financial Institutions Group will support the IFC’s mission to promote sustainable private sector investment in developing countries. The analyst will contribute to project development, investment processing, financial modeling, portfolio supervision, and market research.
Key Duties & Accountabilities
Conduct market and industry research and analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
Support all phases of IFC’s project cycle—from project development, appraisal, and approval to disbursement.
Perform financial statement analysis and build financial models (DCF, comparables, benchmarks) to support investment decisions.
Prepare clear, well-structured business documents, presentations, and reports.
Analyze debt pricing benchmarks and equity trading comparables to assess project viability.
Identify and collect data to evaluate financial, operational, development impact, and ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) matters.
Collaborate with environmental and social colleagues to ensure IFC investments meet high sustainability standards.
Coordinate with clients to obtain financial and operational data.
Participate in investment negotiations and portfolio company supervision.
Work effectively with regional and industry colleagues to support pipeline development and portfolio monitoring.
Selection Criteria
✅ Bachelor’s degree (Finance, Economics, Business, or related field).
✅ Minimum 2 years of work experience with the Financial Institutions Group, Upstream, or Investment, with solid understanding of financial markets.
✅ Strong financial analysis and financial modeling skills (DCF, comparables, projections).
✅ Ability to conduct thorough market and industry research.
✅ High attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency in analytical work.
✅ Skilled in data visualization (tables, graphs, presentations).
✅ Highly motivated, ethical, and team-oriented with ability to work under tight deadlines and with minimal supervision.
✅ Excellent oral and written communication skills.
✅ Strong interest in development finance and multicultural environments.
✅ Fluency in English (French proficiency is a plus).
