Position Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing Manager serves as a strategic partner within the School of Engineering and Computing’s centralized Marketing and Communications team. The role provides primary marketing and communications support for the Computer Science Department, while also contributing to school-wide and Dean’s Office initiatives.

This position works closely with departmental leadership and key stakeholders to translate priorities into clear, actionable marketing strategies. The Marketing Manager functions as a trusted liaison—coordinating timelines, budgets, creative direction, and deliverables across multiple channels—while ensuring alignment with the school’s broader strategic vision.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree

3+ years of full-time professional experience in marketing, communications, or public relations
(Internships, student roles, or trainee positions do not qualify)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience communicating complex scientific or technical concepts to a general audience

Proven success developing and executing creative marketing campaigns

Knowledge of marketing and communications trends in higher education and STEM fields

Experience tracking performance and measuring outcomes

Strong ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities

Key Skills

Excellent written and verbal communication

Strong organizational, creative, and analytical skills

Ability to prioritize, take initiative, and own projects end-to-end

Familiarity with content management systems

Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines and schedules

Essential Functions

Develop and oversee strategic, long-range marketing and communications plans

Define and implement communication and brand strategies across appropriate channels

Manage budgets for large-scale, multi-stakeholder projects

Select and oversee vendor relationships

Write and coordinate production of marketing and communications materials

Lead market research and analysis efforts

Translate research insights into strategic direction, audience targeting, and segmentation

Support university-wide initiatives and cross-functional teams

Provide guidance and leadership to colleagues

Perform other duties as assigned
