Role Overview

Akamai’s Data Services team is seeking a Software Engineer (Java) to join a collaborative, inclusive, and creative team developing cloud-native services at massive scale. You will work on highly distributed systems on Akamai Cloud, building observability solutions and improving reliability for thousands of internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and operate observability solutions for Akamai Cloud services

Build new services or enhance existing cloud-native applications following modern DevOps practices

Test, profile, and monitor code performance

Diagnose system performance and reliability issues with Site Reliability Engineers

Partner with product owners, development, and test teams to implement rapid feedback cycles

Automate processes and workflows using Java and other programming languages

Required Qualifications & Skills

Proficiency in Java and programming/automation of processes

Experience with scalable cloud-native application development, management, and deployment

Intermediate knowledge of Web technologies, distributed systems, and observability tools

Experience developing software in GNU/Linux or Unix environments

Understanding of Internet protocols, including TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, and TLS/SSL

Strong collaboration and communication skills for multidisciplinary team environments
