The Lecturer in Special Needs Education (Hearing Impairment) will train future educators on methods of teaching learners with hearing impairments. The lecturer will also contribute to curriculum development, research, and community outreach projects geared toward inclusive education.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver lectures in areas such as audiology, communication strategies, and curriculum adaptation for learners with hearing impairment

Conduct research in inclusive education and publish findings in academic journals

Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students in their research and teaching practice

Mentor students preparing to work with learners with hearing impairments

Facilitate outreach programs supporting schools and organizations serving the deaf community

Requirements

PhD in Special Needs Education (Hearing Impairment) from a recognized university

Master’s degree in Special Needs Education (Hearing Impairment) with proof of PhD progress may be considered

University-level teaching experience (minimum 3 years)

At least 2 publications in peer-reviewed journals in the area of special needs education

Practical experience working with deaf learners and knowledge of Kenyan Sign Language (KSL) is an added advantage
